Richard Marvin, TV/Film Composer | IMDb Profile
Richard Marvin, a Jacobs School alumnus based in Los Angeles, is one of the most in-demand composers for TV and film. Having experience in a broad range of genres, from 3 Ninjas to Six Feet Under, U-571 to NBC's hit series Grimm, his versatility across genres is truly unique. His interest in electronic instruments led him to become one of the busiest “synthesists” in the 1980’s and early 1990’s in the Los Angeles recording studios. He has worked with a variety of composers including David Newman, Maurice Jarre, Mike Post, Thomas Newman, John Williams, Jerry Goldsmith, John Debney, Basil Poledouris, Trevor Jones, and many others. At IU, Marvin studied with David Baker and Bronja Foster, and pursued additional studies in composition, orchestration and electronic music performance.
Andrew Hey, Recording Engineer
Andrew Hey is a recording engineer, composer, guitarist, and singer who graduated from the Jacobs School in 2006 with a BS in audio engineering. Since then, he has engineered albums for many artists such as Beyoncé, Whitney Houston, Britney Spears, Jennifer Hudson, Jordin Sparks, Chris Brown, Ciara, Mary J. Blige, Toni Braxton, and Quincy Jones. Some of the movie scores and soundtracks he has worked on are Pitch Perfect One and Two, Straight Outta Compton, The Help, Get On Up: The James Brown Story, For Colored Girls, and More Than a Game.
Miriam Clarke, Studio Musician
From ages 16 through 23, Miriam was fortunate to study with and become a protégé of Sir James Galway. She simultaneously earned her degree in Flute Performance and Jazz Studies from IU (BM 1981) at the age of 20. She then headed for Los Angeles where she performed on numerous film scores for such accomplished composers as James Horner, Jerry Goldsmith, Ira Newborn, David Newman, and Charles Fox including: The Star Trek Series, Ferris Beuller’s Day Off, Throw Momma From the Train, The Bill and Ted Series, The Naked Gun Series, The Vacation Series and more. She has extensive experience in scouting orchestral players for positions in Thomas Newman’s studio recording orchestra. Her television soundtrack highlights include Dallas, The Muppet Babies, My Little Pony, and Early Edition, and she has had the opportunity to work for such greats as Todd Rundgren, David Byrne, Brian McKnight, and Michael Jackson.
