- To pluck GDG, DAD and AEA
- To bow tiri tiri ti ti on open A and E, imitating the teacher in echo patterns
- To bow single martele notes on A and E in the upper half of the bow
- To practice silent string crossings on A and E at middle and tip.
- To play AEA with the bow using upper half only
- To pluck GDG, DAD and AEA and play AEA with the bow

- To play open E to 3rd finger D on the A string, first with stops, then without on tiri tiri ti ti
Chapter 23: Broken Record from E to D. Students play in upper half of the bow with tiri tiri ti ti rhythm open E to 3 on A, first setting each finger (EEEE E E, set 123, 3333 3 3, lift all 3), then plopping all three fingers at once. Take time to set the fingers correctly at first, and then as students progress, they can do it with no break.
