USOs may schedule events in halls, classrooms, and other spaces starting on the same date that student non-degree recital scheduling begins for a given semester (see Recital Scheduling Dates and Deadlines for specific dates). For example, in recent years, this has been early August for Fall semester events, and mid-November for Spring semester events.
All public event requests (i.e. any event listed on the JSoM events calendar and/or open to the public) must be submitted to the Scheduling Office by four weeks (28 days) prior to the intended event date. All requests for Communications, audio support, other technical support, and/or live streaming for events must also be submitted to those respective offices by four weeks prior to the intended event date, even if the event is not yet approved by the PCC.
This applies to all Jacobs School events that are open to the public and/or advertised on the Jacobs School events calendar, other than student recitals. This does not apply to non-public reservations, such as rehearsals and recording sessions.
Changes to a requested or approved event are permissible past the above deadline. However, if changes to date/time/location are made under four weeks prior to an event, support from Communications, Audio, Music IT Services, IUMusicLive, Recital Setup, and other offices may not be possible, at the discretion of each office.
For information on how to schedule an event, please follow the instructions on the Faculty/Staff page for How to Schedule an Event.
USO events in JSoM spaces during Fall and Spring semesters must occur before or on the following deadlines:
- Fall semesters: the Friday directly prior to Thanksgiving
- Spring semesters: the last Saturday in March
For specific dates, please see Concert/Event Deadlines.
All performance events must have official IU JSoM programs. Please reach out to the
Music Program Office as early as possible, no later than two weeks prior to the event date, to send them your program information. The Music Program Office will use this to create and print programs for the event.
