Double Bass Recital Repertoire Guidelines
Concentration Recital, undergraduate level (BSOF, BME)
No specification
Concentration Recital, graduate level (BSOF, BME)
No specification
Major recital, junior level (BM, Performance)
Must have exam in orchestral repertoire (see under “Exam Instead of Second Recital”)
Major recital, senior level (BM, Performance)
Should include at least one major solo work or a concerto played from memory, and another significant work differing in musical style.
Major recital, graduate level (MM in Performance, Performance Diploma)
Should include at least two significant works presented from memory and a concerted sonata (may be a transcription or contemporary).
Please Note: The above repertoire obviously assumes that undergraduate recitals (both junior and senior) and graduate recitals (MM and PD) will be solo recitals. Duets (with or without piano) may be programmed on these recitals with the approval of the teacher. Works requiring more than two players (pianists as excepted) are not permitted. Exceptions to this rule must have the approval of a majority of the voting membership of the String Department.
