Diversity Performance Requirement
To fulfill program requirements, performance majors must include (and conducting majors are encouraged to include) performances of works by composers that reflect diversity of gender, race, ethnicity or other historically excluded groups. During each degree or diploma, students must perform a work identified as meeting this requirement.
The most straightforward way for students to meet this requirement is to include diverse programming in degree and diploma recital repertoire. However, any performance certified by the student’s teacher or committee chair will meet this requirement.
Responsibility for assessing the suitability of repertoire to meet this requirement rests with the student’s teacher or committee chair, who will provide evidence of successful performance to the undergraduate or graduate office.
Faculty members can submit this form to the Music Graduate Office to confirm a graduate or diploma student has completed this requirement.
