Transcripts
New students must submit a final, official transcript showing any previously completed coursework or programs at other universities. It is very common for students to submit either an official transcript that did not include their graduation date, or an unofficial record, or a transcript submitted directly to the student (which makes it unofficial), with their application materials.
In those cases, students must submit their final official transcript directly to the Music Graduate Office (for domestic students). For international students, in most cases transcripts must be submitted directly to the Office of International Services. If you are an international diploma student (artist or diploma), contact the Music Graduate Office for details about where to submit your transcripts.
The only electronic transcripts we can accept are official transcripts that your previous degree-granting institution sends directly to our office. It’s important for you put in our email address (do NOT have it sent to “IU” or “IU Admissions”) when having your transcript sent; otherwise, it will go to another office on campus and may not make it to your official file.
Please have a final official transcript reflecting your graduation date sent electronically to the Music Graduate office at musgrad@iu.edu. Be sure to use this email address specifically instead of using general "IU" or "Graduate School" options. Send it specifically to this email address.
If your former university/college only sends paper transcripts, please have it sent directly to our office at the following address:
Music Graduate Office
Jacobs School of Music - Indiana University
200 S. Eagleson Ave Room SMC039
Bloomington, IN 47405
We will let you know once we receive your final transcript.
It is very important that the transcripts be sent directly to the Music Graduate Office, so please be careful when you are ordering your transcripts to have it send only to email or mailing address on this page.
